IFSS Mentor Program

IFSS, together with the Scandinavian Sleddog Federation, have worked out a plan for a Mentor Program. About 20 Scandinavian dog drivers, mainly Skidog racers, have agreed to share their experience and knowledge with dog driving beginners from around the world.

The plan behind this program is that there will be a personal relationship between the mentors and their “adopted” rookie dog drivers. There is no age limit set for applicants who want to participate in this program.

IFSS hope that this “one on one” relationship will make it easier to exchange experiences and advice about training, racing, feeding, equipment and also any other aspects of our sport.

To start out the contact between mentors and applicants will be via email communication or Skype, but a long-term goal is for the two parties to meet and work on practical issues. A personal relationship will make it easier to exchange and share knowledge.

The Application should include:

Name, contact email, age, a short “dog driving-CV”, and please also include ambitions and future dog driving goals. Applications should be written in English.

Applicants will be notified about a designated mentor as soon as possible after the application has been received by IFSS. The goal is to have the program up and running by end of 2013.
