Interceptor Directions
Interceptor flavored tablets should be administered once a month year-round, or at least during and one month following mosquito season; animals that are traveling for the first time to heartworm-risk areas should begin treatment a month prior. Composition and pharmacological properties.
“Dironet” has broad spectrum action against all stages of development of round and tape worms, including Toxocara canis, Toxocara cati, Toxascaris leonina, Uncinaria stenocephala, Ancylostoma caninum, Trichuris vulpis, Echinococcus granulosus, Echinococcus multilocularis, Diphyllobothrium latum, Dipylidium caninum, Multiceps, Taenia spp. and others. The drug effects destructively on microfilaria of Dirofilaria immitis and Dirofilaria repens in carnivores and also prevents their
development.
The mechanism of ivermectin action is based on the linkage with glutamate-dependent chloral channels, located mainly in glottal and somatic muscles. It results in increasing permeability of membrane for chlorine ions, blocking of nervous - muscular transfer, there comes paralysis and destruction of parasite.
The mechanism of pyrantel pamoate action is based on blocking of nervous – muscular transfer, disturbing of permeability of cellular membranes and oppression of cholinesterase that also leads to paralysis and destruction of parasite.
The mechanism of praziquantel action is based on disturbing of glucose transport and microtubular function in cestodes, oppression of activity fumaratreductase and synthesis of ATP, increasing of permeability of cellular membranes and disturbance of muscular innervation.
Indications.
Preventions of heart worm disease (Dirofilaria immitis and Dirofilaria repens) and also treatment and prophylaxis of Toxocara canis, Toxocara cati, Toxascaris leonina, Uncinaria stenocephala, Ancylostoma caninum, Trichuris vulpis, Echinococcus granulosus, Echinococcus multilocularis, Diphyllobothrium latum, Dipylidium caninum, Multiceps multiceps, Taenia spp. in dogs and cats.
Contra-indications.
Not to be used simultaneously with piperazine compounds and in pregnant and nursing females, in puppies and kittens under 3 weeks of age. Use for Collie, Shetland and Bobtailed sheepdogs only under doctor supervision.
Side effects and complications.

Dosage and administration.
To treat roundworms and tapeworms of gastrointestinal tract: once individually in morning feeding at a dose of 1 tablet per 10 kg of animal weight or 1 ml of suspension per 1 kg of animal weight. For deworming of animals weighting under 0,5 kg add 0,3 ml of boiled water to the necessary dose of suspension right before the administration, shake up well and administer to an animal orally. Preliminary hungry diet and administration of laxatives are not required. To prevent reinfestation de-worm dogs and cats quarterly at the above-stated dose.
To stop microfilariaemia in infestated animals the drug should be administered at therapeutic dose once a month.
To prevent the heartworm disease in dogs use “Dironet” during the period from spring till autumn: once before the appearing of mosquitoes (March - April), then from April till October and the last time in season - in 1 month after the termination of mosquitos’ existence (October - November).
Storage.
Store with precaution (list B) in original packing, away from light, moisture, foodstuff and feeds at temperature not higher than 25°С. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
